Fetch Blog

A lot of work goes into our paper. But even more goes onto it.

Paper's the blank canvas, the starting point. It's the creativity of the people with whom we work that brings it to life. The Fetch Blog is a little snap shot of that work. Here we show you our latest paper samplers, cool work our clients have done, KWD news including environmental updates, wild paper tales and any up and coming paper, design and print events. We'll be uploading new stuff every week so send us your best work.

Positive Posters

Reaping positive design havoc all over Melbourne and the world!

A bunch of young Melbournians calling themselves Positive Posters are asking graphic designers all over the world to submit a poster design (to the 2010 theme A Glass Half Full) that will inspire and challenge people make a positive difference to the way they live their lives.

“We started the competition last year with no expectations. But ended up with 339 entries, from 53 countries. The third most amount of entries from Iran. We are still trying to figure that one out!” said competition founder, Nick Hallam.

Last years winner came from Slovakia. His poster was seen all over Melbourne, and even travelled to the North and South Pole. This years competition is at the half way point and they have already received over 250 entries from 52 different countries. And counting!

The non-profit competition is held annually between July and October. They give designers two months to create and submit a positive design that responds to the theme of that year. An exhibition is held of the top 30 posters, and the winner chosen by a group of international judges. They then print 4000 copies of the winning poster and paste it all over the streets of Melbourne, Australia. And send a few off around the world too!

The winner also gets Adobe CS5, Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet, Pantone Colour Bridge, IdN Feature Article, IdN Subscription, Spook Mag Subscription, Fat Clothing Voucher and a Keep Cup.

Submissions are open from the 12th July to 10th September.

The exhibition will be held at No Vacancy for a week from the 12th of October. The winner will be announced during this time.

Curious Collection Launch - Brisbane Office

A hot breakfast was not the only thing tantalising tastebuds when the K.W.Doggett Fine Paper Brisbane team gathered local graphic designers on a chilly morning to launch the new Curious Collection by ArjoWiggins.

Thirty designers came together at The Depot in Fortitude Valley on June 11 where everyone was re-introduced to the Curious Metallic range and given their first glimpse of our latest paper promotion, ‘A Curious Story’.  Designed by Reflexgroup, ‘A Curious Story’ takes the viewer on a mystical journey to discover the nine new colours of the Curious Metallic paper range as seen through the lens of photographer Gregoire Alexandre. Those in attendance were also given the opportunity to check out national and international projects from previous years that had been printed on the Curious Collection leaving them with more creative ways in which to use the range. Drawing designers into the journey proved a great success with all gaining new inspiration to create their own curious story.
